The Broadwalk Centre commemorates WW1 100th anniversary with flower giveaway

On Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th February The Broadwalk Centre in Edgware hosted a special flower giveaway to kick-start its ongoing commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the end of World War One.

Throughout the weekend shoppers, who spent over £30 within the centre, received a beautiful bunch of flowers from The Broadwalk's resident flower shop, Isabella Florist. Now, for every posy handed out, the centre will be donating poppy seeds to local organisations looking to brighten up their gardens ahead of Remembrance Day.

The Broadwalk Centre has over 800,000 seeds to give away and is encouraging local groups to get in touch if they would like the seeds for their venue.

Those interested should email or write to The Broadwalk Centre's Poppy Campaign, c/o PMW Communications, Stane Court, Stane Street, Billingshurst, West Sussex RH14 9HP explaining why they would benefit from the poppy donation.

Angela Brooks, Centre Manager of The Broadwalk Centre, commented:

"The aim of our poppy donation is to create something unique in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the end of World War One. We believe that, as the poppies grow throughout the year, they will act as a symbol of remembrance for local residents. I look forward to announcing at the end of March which groups or organisations will be taking the seeds."

The deadline for community group submissions is monday 26th March 2018.
