Individual store opening times may vary
Could the library benefit from new books? Would the local children's playgroup or charity like new arts and crafts materials for their members? Then The Broadwalk Centre in Edgware is here to help through its new community campaign - In Edgware We Care.
We have teamed up with The Times Series to launch a new fund, which aims to help residents improve their community group or local services by handing out £500 worth of shopping centre vouchers for projects that will make Edgware a better place.
The centre will be donating the three-figure financial boost in shopping vouchers to grassroots groups every other month – with readers of The Time Series deciding on the projects that should receive the donation, by voting for the cause they think worthiest. Every other month a different store within the shopping centre will be offering vouchers and The Works, Sainsbury's, Robert Dyas, JD Sports, Boots and Poundland will feature throughout the campaign.
The first £500 worth of vouchers on offer are from The Works – The Broadwalk Centre's newest retailer – which is renowned for its discounted books, games, arts and crafts supplies, DVDs and toys.
Angela Brooks, Centre Manager at The Broadwalk Centre, said:
"We are really proud to be situated in the heart of the town and keen to give back to the community.
"In Edgware We Care puts the power in the hands of the people to decide which groups, charities and organisations should receive the shopping voucher donations, to the benefit of the whole community.
"Whether the cause or group would use the shopping vouchers for a one off project or decide to purchase extra supplies to expand their service within the community, we're really keen to receive nominations from residents about the projects they have in mind to improve their corner of Edgware."
Nominations for the first £500 donation are now open and groups are urged to make their submissions. Each nomination should highlight the location (including postcode), the type of project, group or service, details on what the £500 worth of vouchers would be used for and contact details for both the nominee and the nominator.
All nominations should be sent in writing to The Broadwalk's In Edgware We Care Campaign, c/o PMW Communications, Stane Court, Stane Street, Billingshurst, West Sussex, RH14 9HP or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
The deadline for nominations to receive £500 of vouchers for The Works is 15th August 2016.
