Throughout August The Broadwalk Centre in Edgware invited local youngsters to get crafty by upcycling their wardrobes during the centre's free 'Trash to Treasure' campaign.
The community shopping centre hosted a range of free Saturday workshops as part of their 2017 'Love Your World' environmental campaign, which taught younger shoppers and their families how to use recycled materials to upcycle their old clothes. Each week there was a different theme including 'Chop your top', 'Patch up your pants', 'Jazz up your jammies' and 'Stitch up your socks'.
Angela Brooks, Centre Manager at The Broadwalk Centre, commented:
"Our 'Trash to Treasure' workshop programme was a huge success. We were delighted with the number of local children that got involved and were able to upcycle a variety of their belongings. Upcycling has become a popular trend in the UK and, as a shopping centre that continually strives to be environmentally friendly, I'm thrilled we were able to offer advice on reusing materials often thrown in the back of people's wardrobes or in the bin."
