The Gruffalo gets glitzy at The Boardwalk Centre

Earlier this week the much-loved children's book character The Gruffalo was given a glitzy makeover by local children at The Broadwalk Centre in Edgware.

The shopping centre hosted its first Marvellous Monday session on 1st August where youngsters got crafty decorating a life-sized replica sculpture of the friendly monster. Using glitter, paints, colourful paper and fabrics, children brought the statue to life and it has now go on display to shoppers.

Children also made puppets, masks and colourful collages during a 'make and take' workshop.

The Marvellous Monday programme, which runs throughout August, is being held ahead of The Gruffalo's appearance at The Broadwalk Centre later this month.

The free of charge activity programme invites local children to get hands-on at special arts and crafts workshops to help decorate life size sculptures of characters from the hugely popular children's book The Gruffalo.

The much-loved character will then appear at the centre on Monday 29th August and families are reminded to bring their cameras as photo opportunities with The Gruffalo will be available.
