On Saturday 27th May The Broadwalk Centre hosted a very special sunflower workshop for local children.
Youngsters were treated to a free make and take workshop in celebration of the May bank holiday where, throughout the day, they could decorate their very own plant pot before sewing sunflower seeds using the specially provided mustard seed soil.
On the back of its free event The Broadwalk Centre launched an exclusive Facebook competition inviting those that took part in the workshop to care for their sunflower at home and be in with the chance of winning a whole host of goodies.
Children have been tasked with growing their sunflower and then uploading a photo to the centre's Facebook page. The child who grows the tallest sunflower will be declared the winner.
Angela Brooks, Centre Manager at The Broadwalk Centre, commented:
"It was fantastic to see so many children taking advantage of our free sunflower workshop and the competition element of the campaign also encourages youngsters to take responsibility of and look after their plants throughout the summer."
The Broadwalk Centre's next eco-friendly campaign – Trash to Treasure - which is designed to inspire youngsters to upcycle their old clothes will take place this summer.
